So for all you renal RD's out there who work in a dialysis unit, I am sure you draw mid-month labs for phosphorus. At my unit, we look at Phos over 7 and really try our best to give these clients a little extra attention. My list has been running between 5-8 patients. Well this month, I got it down to 3! Yes 3! To me it is unbelievable. I just hope it had something to do with the board I set up. As mention in the previous post, my clients seemed to really like the interaction and were always asking me if their acorn was in the tree.
I took a sneak peak at our numbers for October and how we did meeting our targets. Alb went up but we are still not meeting goal. I am in the process of setting up my hockey themed board. Hopefully, this will motivate my clients just as the Acorn Board did. Once I am done, I will post pictures on here and Twitter(@AspiringRenalRD).
I am really enjoying my time out in dialysis. I knew I was going to love it. I am very grateful I was given this opportunity. Love my new renal family!
This blog is my thoughts on my adventure on becoming a renal RD. I hope to share some wisdom to other new renal RD's after me and maybe gain some knowledge and insight on the renal nutrition area.

It's Been Awhile
So it has been awhile since I last posted something. Things have gotten away from me lately. I have been wanting to write something but have been forgetting.
I am very happy about my Phosphorus Incentive Board. My clients are asking me where their acorn is on the board. It makes me so happy they are actually looking for them.
Now we have not been meeting our Albumin goals for 2 months and actually, we went down this month. So I decided to do another board since the clients seem to enjoy it. I am going to try to a sports related themed board. I think it should go over well.
I also attended Quality Renal Insights Network 3 Annual Meeting this past Thursday. I had a great time and learned some new information. I hope for next year I can present a poster and represent my clinic, who I feel should get some recognition for the awesome job they do.
I can not wait to finish my STAR program at work and see what my findings are in my PI project (that will be for another posting!)
Keep following!
